Still on the issue. Governor Rochas Okorocha has yet again urged the National Assembly to ensure that an additional state is created in South-East on the basis of equality and fairness.
According to this communique from the Government House,His Excellency stated this when a committee on State Creation paid him a visit. He maintained that an additional state in the south-east would bring the zone at par with other zones in the country.
Governor Okorocha posited that the South-East had been marginalized due to the imbalance in the number of states and urged all the stakeholders in the zone to close ranks to ensure that the project is actualized. Also, Gov Okorocha promised that his administration would offer the necessary support and logistics required in the project, adding that additional state to the zone would largely boost socio-economic development of the zone. He enjoined the Committee to engaged with relevant stakeholders as well as embark on aggressive sensitization campaign within and outside the south-east zone. The governor further posited that an additional state for the zone could be created from Imo and Anambara for equity and fairness in the South-East.
