Imo State Governor Owelle Rochas Anayo Okorocha has declared in London that Imo State Union, UK, under the leadership of Sir Emmanuel Ahanonu is the only Union recognised by his government as the authentic umbrella
organisation representing the interest of Imo State indigenes living in the United Kingdom.

Owelle Rochas Okorocha made the declaration recently  at a meeting with the Imo State Union Executives in London.

‘I am not against anybody or groups calling themselves any name they like, for instance Imo Foot ball Club UK, and so on. ‘There is already here in the United Kingdom an established Union so I expect all Imo sons and daughters to join and become members and play active part.” – Gov. Okorocha

In his address, the President of Imo State Union UK, Sir Emmanuel Ahanonu again congratulated the Governor for his victory in the last governorship election. Quote:

‘Owelle, you have shown by your performance in less than 100 days in office as our governor that Imo can truly work for the betterment of everybody. The paying off of pension arrears, universal free education for primary and secondary schools, and the reduction of fees for State Universities and laudable achievements. Please keep it up. All your brothers and sister in the UK and Diaspora in general are solidly behind you and praying for you’.

The governor also said that he is looking forward to attending the forthcoming IMO FAMILY DAY to be held in October this year in London, where he will use the opportunity to address the Imo Community in the United Kingdom on the programme of his administration and how we will be part of that change. The President of the Union assured the governor of the Union’s willingness to work with his administration in the interest of the people of Imo State.
