PROGRESS REPORT: Road Constructions and other projects in Orlu.

These pictures show some of the on going constructions embarked on by the Okorocha Administration in Orlu. The roads are also labelled for verification purposes.

Typical ndi igbo, very short sighted. that is why yoruba an hausa dey you people to play footbal. you see one picture and you are dacing and jumping.

just as Stanley has said, lets see how long the sub standard rd lasts. A friend told me of the so called roads, built in Ehime, mbano by this administration. As soon as rainy season landed, the road was unpassable, the tar washed away.

All Rochas has to do is look into this blog and see you praising like Jesus and he will respond, I’ve got them, they are satisfied.

Stop praising anybody, demand more. he did not fight for the position with both eyes closed, he knew what he was getting into.

that is the same problem in igbo land, praising crooks, thiefs, 419ers otokojo ritualists and by the time you open eyes, it was too late.

Marginalization in Imo State as key positions in the ministries and parastatals are being given to Orlu people. Roads and buildings are constructed despite the rain but Owerri is in shambles and the rain is the excuse for not fixing them. At the tail end of his administration work will start again in Owerri then he will ask you to vote him again to finish what he started and if Orlu State sails through, better for him, he just goes on to become their first governor

You did good for the pix.
But the name of that road you mostly have in pix is Owus Avenue, not Owum or Owum’s Avenue. Owus stands for “Orlu Wake Up Shops.” It is believed that shop displays in Orlu started there pre-colonial times. The one you labelled Orlu – Nkwerre road is actually called Amaigbo Road, though it leads to Nkwerre.

Why all the bile from you from your expression of: “Let’s see what happens when Owelle is no longer the Governor of Orlu”?
Is it because a few roads outside the state capital are now being done by IMSG?
Ex Imo state governor, late Amadi Ikwechegh, set out to do more than the urban roads and drainage Owelle is doing in Orlu now, but no sooner did Ikwechegh leave office than the Israeli contractor doing the job disappeared.
Bear in mind that in 1976 when Imo state was created, there was little or no difference in the level of urbanization between the cities of Okigwe, Orlu and Owerri. So it must be foolish of any body to grouse the state government for giving some face lift to Okigwe and Orlu this time. And remenber, Okigwe and Owerri now have billions of Naira already invested in them for water supply schemes, Orlu has none yet. Pray rather that the state government gathers enough resources to extend development to all the nooks and crannies of Imo state.

    See, KAYCEE may be right. Owus Avenue is merely less than 400 meters long. Two of the roads here labelled Owus Avenue are not Owus Avenue. Any body who grew in Orlu must also tell you that.
    
    Yours Truly can confirm to be true the pics of Asika Ilobi Avenue through Old Ministry of Works (where white man’s shanty houses used to be), to Carrot Junction; they are correct.
    However, congrats to imostateblog.com for its tireless efforts.

Frank,,hv u passed dat road resently, my dear u need to see the round abt,,i like it bt is just too big, we dnt need such big round abt before we knw dat Orlu is d pride of igboland, just like the popular saying dat wen a man is tall dat does nt mean he is matured. It’s ironical that while the Imo government is showcasing these roads under construction, Imo citizens are showcasing and posting real pictures of roads washed away by erosion, graves exposed. Some even claim to see bones from cemeteries being washed away, all in Imo state. Under these circumstances, how do we celebrate progress or success? Obviously, the state does not have any emergency preparedness plans in place, something single buildings in the West have, to ensure safety of occupants.In one picture one can see a car on its side and caught between the land cracks. Imo people,there’s a better way. And seeing gutters on these new roads do not make me feel good.Underground drainage systems are the new way.These gutters are dangerous for motorists and pedestrians and health hazards.

Those roundabouts are even small, one is tempted to assume here that you have not gone beyond Nigeria before to see what roundabouts are like.

@Paul Amadi,
You got it right with the talk of underground drainage. In fact, people thought Owelle would show his usual farsightedness by using underground drainage this time. Malaria is number one killer in Nigeria, open gutters are harbingers of mosquitoes. In any case, the governor’s efforts need to be appreciated by well-meaning Imolites.

This politicians are at it again.why all this noise about road construction that will expire with the tenure of Gov Okorocha.So why all this noise and praise singing.Good Roads and other social ammenities is Government responsibility.And it is the right of every nigerian to have this including security.In other countries Road construction is the commonest thing among service delivery.This rented crowds and praise singers shoul spare us this MKPOTU NA UZU.

Somebody was there for years(Achike,Ohakim) and they did nothing. And another is today doing something and we’re saying is substandard;what can one do to please this world? For the fact that there re big round abt in lagos or Abj, dat does not mean we must build one no mata hw small our road is, just to show we hv one or we can build one. If u hv not occupy ur sense of reasoning wit praise singining, u wuld hv understand dat in my previous comment, i did not say the round abt is bad, i only said is too big for that particular spot. I will advice u travel to oda places, take a look at the round abt and the road, the links, before coming back to look @ ur own, and see the diff. Am sure is pple like u dat re deceiving the Gov,,i pray realise dat pple like u re his real enemies. The fact that he is building the roads should be commended for now. Hopefully he can follow this up by building or upgrading a few major roads to the level we have in Lagos and Abuja. For example Owerri to Orlu, Owerri to Aba, and Owerri to Okigwe. Not every single road has to be to the level of roads in Lagos and Abuja that carry heavy traffic 24/7. It is now down to the local governments and subsequent Governors to make sure these roads are resurfaced and upgraded on a yearly basis. Carry on Rochas and co. Imo must be better.

I Am from orlu nd liv in orlu. Those roads in d pics r exactly how they look like….Am hapy orlu has produced a great governor(Rochas Okorocha) likewise Okigwe(Late Sam Mbakwe). imo is gettin better!
