Early last week, the Imo State Government issued an announcement that Governor Rochas Okorocha had invited the recalled PDP councilmen for a meeting on Friday July 27th. Shortly after the announcement, word filtered into our ears that the L.G councilmen had planned to turn down the Governor’s invitation.
Not sure how the events would unfold, we decided to mind our business on the Blog and watch things from a distance.
Yesterday, it was no surprise to learn that they did not show up to the meeting with Governor Okorocha. Not withstanding, the meeting held as planned. In their absence, His Excellency briefed Stakeholders, the Executive cabinet and members of the Press. The office of the Honourable Commissioner for Information & Strategy, Mr.Chinedu Offor has made the video of the Governor’s speech available to us.
Offering an olive branch in the interest of peace and tranquility in the State, Governor Okorocha announced the reinstatement of the Chairmen. He told the audience that his decisions were anchored on the wishes and welfare of the people.
The speech ended with a rousing applause from the audience.
In the images below, our SSG, Prof.Tony Anwuka is seen backing the Governor with two thumbs up in the air and the Information Commissioner, Mr.Chinedu Offor ushering in a “Kunu aka” moment. LOL!
Please proceed to watch and share your thoughts. 😀
Our most memorable quote from this speech:
“ . … disrespecting the instructions of the Governor does not augur well for Democracy. Let those who are pushing them from behind, leave my children alone“
