Just when we thought we had heard it all, the Imo State Commissioner for Information, Chinedu Offor gives us something new to talk about. According to what we just learnt, the Imo state government says it will establish a memorial park along Nworie river axis in Owerri, in remembrance of the last civil war in the country.
Describing the park which will be known as Sunrise memorial park, Offor said, it will have among other amenities like a walk way to be known as “Walk way of blood”.
While briefing government house correspondents shortly after the state Executive Council meeting , Offor disclosed that government was viewing with concern the spate of criminal activities in the state.
Apparently referring to the recent murder of the Protocol Officer attached to the Deputy Governor’s office, Laz Anyanwu, Offor described it as a dastardly act, pointing out that the state Executive council has vowed to unravel those behind the heinous act.
According to him, the state government will no longer treat cases of insecurity with kid gloves.
The Information Commissioner also stated that the good governance team to be led by the Minister for Information, Labaran Maku will arrive the state on Sunday to access the level of development in the state.
He said that during the three days visit, the team will inspect federal and state government projects which include Amuzari Dam, Egbema Power station and Owerri water works.
Beloved Imolites, how does the idea of this Nworie memorial park + the walk way of blood sound to you?
