Bereaved husband, Ike Ibe kicks against DANA Air resumption.

Former governorship aspirant in Imo State, Ike C. Ibe, who lost his wife Nancy Echendu, daughter Uzoma Jennifer, and his in-law’s wife, Maria Okwulehie, in the ill-fated Dana air crash has accused the Federal Government of insensitivity in lifting the ban on Dana Airline.

Dana Airline, which was grounded by government following the June 3, 2012 air crash, was Wednesday restored its licence to fly by the Federal Government which claimed that audit reports on Dana were satisfactory.

Ike Ibe, however, said the lifting of the ban on the Airline was suspicious and fraudulent as the clean bill given to the Airline did not match with the preliminary findings of the cause of the Dana crash.

“Government stated in one breath that the preliminaryreports on the crash show that the crashed plane lost its two engines. Shockingly also, the same government says it has conducted a rigorous technical, operational and financial audit of the Dana Airline and found it to be airworthy.

“If the Dana Airline was airworthy, then why did it lose two engines during the June 3 flight? Is it not the same government, aviation ministry and Nigeria civil aviation authority that certified this airline prior to June 3?

“Many questions are left unanswered by this spurious and suspicious lifting of suspension. Has the suspension been lifted because of usual financial inducements? Is it that the government as usual does not care about the sensibilities of the victims’ families and indeed Nigerian people? If the family of the President or the aviation minister perished in the crash like my family did, will they rush to lift the suspension?” He said
