Prince Eze Madumere, the Chief of Staff to the Governor of Imo State has described Owelle Rochas Okorocha’s victory at the Appeal Court last Friday, January 6, 2012 as victory for Democracy.
Arriving the airport with the Governor Okorocha, Prince Madumere while fielding questions from the newsmen, Governor Okorocha first gave thanks to God Almighty whom he described as the righteous Judge. He further extolled the virtue of the Justices at the Appeal for their doggedness and fearlessness even in the face of desperate elements. He further said that Judiciary has remained faithfully the hope of the common man for which he described as the hope of the Imo people who had gone out en masse to vote for Governor Okorocha.
Chief Madumere further advised those in the Media to uphold fairness and avoid biases in their reports. He said this while thanking the Media for their effort in nurturing the democratic tradition in Nigeria. He however observed that some of them have become partial arbiters saying such tradition is very destructive and inimical to the development of any society.
“As the fourth realm of the estate in any society, it is almost unbelievable that some Media practitioners could stand truth on its head. We know the importance position the Media occupy in any society especially in democracy, we cannot afford to toil with that position. I encourage every noble man of the media to always observe the ethics of the practice and be as professional as possible.
We thank the good people of Imo State for their support and their prayers too. You can believe how many calls registered in my phone. It is unbelievable. His Excellency Owelle Rochas Okorocha means well and he has vowed to make Imo better. I wonder the reason for all these unnecessary and diversionary efforts of a man who knew he lost well. For me, it is advisable that this money be ploughed into other useful things than begin to try what is impossible. Imo people spoke and it happened. And at no time has their chosen Governor failed them. I thank God for the kind of Judges we have in our courts who are real Justices and are fearless and dogged in delivering as it is. Imo Rescue Mission has begum the Mission and it is our pledge that Imo Must be Better and of course it is already getting better but we are still from Governor Okorocha’s vision for Imo State and her citizenry.
