The town hall meeting organized for Imo women as part of this year’s August meeting has come to an end with a call on women not to be afraid of opposition, since it helps one to bring out the best in him or her .
Her Excellency, Nneoma Nkechi Rochas Okorocha made the call while interacting with women of both Ideato North and Ideato South LGAs respectively and requested them to continue to support the policies and programmes of the State government especially in the area of health.
She Okorocha emphasized the importance the present State government attaches to the health of its citizenry which was evident in building of the ultra modern General hospital in the 27 LGAs of the State, launching of the Health at Your Door Step programmes as well as the distribution of Long Lasting Insecticidal Treated Mosquito nets to virtually every family in the State.
She therefore called on women to take advantage of the programmes and to access quality health care by avoiding self medication and going to hospital whenever the need arises. The Imo first lady used the occasion to call for a change of attitude in women while urging them to desist from nagging at home saying it has driven many men away from their homes making them fall into the hands women of easy virtue .
The member representing Ideato North at the State House of Assembly, Barr Eudora Igwe, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mrs. Lillian Asouzu as well as Mrs. Roseline Mgbo and Mrs. Chinwe Ike expressed gratitude to the governor’s wife for the positive changes going on in the State assured of the support of the women of the area.
In their contributions, the member for Ideato South in Imo State House of Assembly, Hon. Ikechukwu Amuka, the Commissioner for Education, Prof. Adaobi Obasi, wife of the Principal Secretary to the Governor, Mrs. Jennifer Obi among others expressed delight at the special August meeting.
The occasion featured presentation of gift items to the women by the First lady and tour of the project sites of the State government at the State headquarters, Owerri.
