On Saturday June 30th, 2012, a Memorial High Mass & Repast will be held for the Late Mrs. Nancy Echiedu Ibe and her 11yr old daughter Jennifer Ibe who were snatched away by the cold hands of death aboard the ill fated Dana Air plane on June 3 in Lagos.
The event will be held at the Nigerian Catholic Community (St.Jerome Catholic Church ) located at 5205 43rd. Ave , Hyattsville, Maryland in the United States. Time – 6pm.
One of the event organizers, Mrs. Nneka Igwe – Onwudiwe told IMO STATE BLOG.com that the programme was being organized by a 10 – member committee of friends to ensure a befitting Service of Songs in honour of Mrs. Ibe and her daughter, Jennifer. She further disclosed that the deceased had lived in the United States for many years before she relocated to Nigeria with the children in 2008.
An indigene of Umuahia Ibeku in Abia State, Mrs. Nancy Echiedu Ibe was the wife to former Imo gubernatorial aspirant and former Legislator, Hon. Ike Ibe. She was on her way to India with her daughter for the later’s medical check up.
Since tragedy struck two weeks ago, the condolence messages keep pouring in. Members of the Ibe family have also taken to Facebook to pour their grief. Two of the most touching messages posted on the late Mrs. Ibe’s page are seen below:
“For some, it was a Breaking news. For the IBE’s family, it was a black Sunday. A real nightmare watching the news when it was declared the Dana plane had crashed. Our wife- Nancy Ibe and daughter- Jennifer Ibe were on that plane. We are speechless.”
– Chidinma Ibeh
“……It was only the week before that I spoke with Nancy, it is unbelievable. Shame on you Nigeria so called giant of Africa, Shame on you greedy dana air for flying a plane knowing fully well that it had engine problems. Cursed be the people who authorized this plane to fly in full knowledge that it should not. May the deep sorrow you have caused to innocent people be visited upon you many folds. When things happen, we Christians say it is the will of God, well the death of Nancy and Jennifer is not the will of God but the will and greed of man. May those responsible be punished severely forever. “

Our deepest sympathies are with the Ibe family at this time. We pray for the souls of Mrs.Nancy Ibe, the young Jennifer and everyone else that met their death in that tragic incident. May the Almighty give them rest in his bosom. Amen.
