The Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has commenced the construction of multi-billion Naira Ceramics Tiles Industry in the state.
The industry is located in Nsu, Ehime Mbano Local Government Area, at the same site earlier proposed for similar project by late Same Mbakwe about 32 years ago.
Governor Okorocha who stated this when he paid an unscheduled visit to the site, said the construction of a brand new industry with modern equipment became necessary as the equipment supplied by Late Sam Mbakwe’s administration has became obsolete.
According to Governor Okorocha, the factory on completion will have the capacity of producing enough tiles for local consumption and export and further boost the revenue generation of the state government. He expressed his administration commitment to ensure that late Sam Mbakwe’s vision of establishing a ceramic titles Industry in the state is actualized under the industrialization policy of the Imo Rescue
“I am here to start a factory which late Sam Mbakwe proposed but could not actualize. We will now build a brand new factory because most of the equipment are lying waste in this site have become obsolete”, he said.
He urged the people of Nsu Community to cooperate with the company contracted to build the industry, warning that government would not hesitate to stop the project if they indulge in any form of restiveness.
