In the aftermath of the declaration of the seat of Hon. Greg Okemili, member representing Oru-East in the State Assembly vacant, a youth body, Oru-East Youth Vanguard, (OYV) has lauded the Speaker of the State Assembly, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu for his forthright decision to stand up for the truth and rule of law. Belief
Chairman of the group, Comrade Godspower Uche while making the position of the body public in an interview with journalists in Owerri stated that the youth body was very happy that after months of laborious due process the House finally decided to obey the judgment of the Court of Appeal Owerri as well as a letter from the lawyer of Barr. Robert Okwuego the PDP candidate in the election who instituted the matter in court.
The youth leader maintained that Hon. Okemili was never declared winner by the INEC neither did the High Court do so, saying what the court ordered was that INEC should conclude the poll and issue certificate of return to the winner, but regretted that Okemili got himself fraudulently sworn in by the House.
Wondering when the courts became INEC that is constitutionally empowered to conduct elections and declare results, the youth leader argued that the election was inconclusive which was why INEC never declared Oru East House of Assembly result at the first place, Barr Greg Okemili played a smart one on Oru East people by obtaining a fraudulent order to be sworn in with to represent himself.
Continuing, he urged the leadership of the House to move quickly to recover all the emoluments, salaries and allowances the ousted lawmaker pocketed illegally while in the House so that when the right owner of the seat is sworn in, he will take what rightly belong to him and use same to work for the good people of Oru-East.
