Imo PDP dissowns Chief Ikedi Ohakim…. says ex-Governor served on PPA platform.
The immediate past Governor of Imo State, Chief Ikedi Godson Ohakim appears to be facing another round of trouble as the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP], the party he claimed to have served under its platform has finally disowned him.
In a statement signed by the Eze Duruihuoma-led executive in Imo state that was signed by its publicity secretary, Chief Bladen Amajirionwu, the party posited that it would translate to a wrong impression for anyone to suggest that PDP governed Imo State for 12 years. The party explained that Ohakim only became governor on the platform of Progressive people’s Alliance [PPA] while till date is a political party and not PDP as claimed by the former governor.
“We should start here by correcting the impression that the PDP governed Imo for 12 years. That cannot be correct because Chief Ikedi Ohakim did not win the governorship seat in 2007 on PDP platform.
He became governor on the platform of PPA and PPA till date is a political party. It did not fuse into the PDP and it is therefore wrong to ascribe its achievements or otherwise to the PDP” the party declared.
Also in a recent development, a chieftain of the party and former Chairman of Association of Local government of Nigeria [ALGON] Imo State chapter, Hon Tony-Black Nduka declared Ohakim’s tenure as a disaster and colossal waste in the history of the state. Nduka who is also Ohakim’s kinsman that served as council chairman for Isiala Mbano LGA where ex-governor hail from posited as thus
“I am short of words and for being part of the past administration, I can tell you that I feel ashamed of PDP. I am saying this because people know that I was part of that government and with what I’ve seen today under Governor Okorocha just within one year, I can tell you truly that I am ashamed because I am a man that doesn’t hide my feelings.
I worked with the past government for four years and nothing was achieved; now look at this edifice called Sam Mbakwe Expanded Exco which by all ramifications is world class and technologically equipped hall. You cannot imagine that this is where we left one year ago and the place is totally transformed to the extent that most of us couldn’t recognize it”
The PDP chieftain further declared :
“Yes, I am a PDP stakeholder, but I realized quickly that I entered into a party to win election and solve the problems of our people, but unfortunately we secured the victory and could not solve any problem of our people and somebody under one year has been making this kind of progress and someone is expecting me not to support him. No! I must support governor Okorocha because he is truly on a rescue mission and above all, he is sincere to Imo people” Nduka concluded.
