The Imo State Government says it has concluded plans to make the state a Medical tourism destination in the country.
The Deputy Governor, Sir. Jude Agbaso stated this shortly on arrival at the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport from a one-week official trip from India.
Sir. Jude Agbaso said that the State was working out modalities of setting up a strong medical business in the state, and said that government decided to make the medical trip to India because the country has been able to tackle their health challenges.
The Deputy Governor said that it is the determination of the present administration under the leadership of Governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha to build a world class hospital in the state, stressing that the negotiation with the Indian Medical team had reached an advanced stage adding that in the next twenty one days, the medical team would arrive the state.
Sir. Agbaso expressed the confidence that with the arrangement the state would build a strong medical business stating that in the next few years the state would be a tourist health destination thereby reducing the cost of people receiving medical attention abroad.
Meanwhile, the Special Assistant to the Deputy Governor on Media, Mr. Onyema Opara has debunked newspaper reports that the Deputy Governor, Sir. Jude Agbaso has been removed as the Commissioner-in-charge of Works.
In a press statement released in Owerri, Mr. Opara said that Sir Agbaso was still the Commissioner for Works as there had not been any cabinet reshufflement in the state.
He also said that the reports were the calculations of mischief
makers, adding that the relationship between the Governor and his Deputy remains cordial and that no amount of castigations would distort it.
