ITC Transportation takes delivery of new buses, opens additional bays, expands operations into Ghana.

So, the Imo state government has procured 50 brand new 30-Seater coaster buses to boost operations of the Imo Transport Company (ITC) during the Yuletide period. A statement made available to IMO STATE BLOG from the Special Assistant to Governor Okorocha on Media (Print), Mr. Ebere Uzokwa disclosed that the new management, Ginika Global Services has expanded its operations within the country and Ghana by  procuring over 200 new Hiace buses, 50 coaster buses as well as opened additional 70 loading bays in the country.


“The Managing Director of the company, Mr. Emeka Duru, said the additional buses are procured to ensure that Imolites and Nigerians travel to their destinations safely and with maximum comfort which he maintained  has remained the hallmark of the company.

He explained that the management of the company has designed an operational frame-work that now offers Imolites returning to the state from different parts of the country options as the company has in its fleet brand new small, coaster and luxurious buses.

Duru also stated that ITC under the concession agreement with Global Ginikana Services Ltd  which is aimed at driving the Private  Public Partnership(PPP) initiative of Gov. Owelle Rochas Anayo Okorocha, has expanded its operations within the country and Ghana by  procuring over 200 new Hiace buses, 50 coaster buses as well as opened additional 70 loading bays in the country.

He further disclosed that the expansion witnessed in the company has generated job opportunities leading to the employment of over 1000 new workers, adding that certain safety measures introduced by the management have so far placed ITC as the best government owned transport company in the country.

The ITC boss reiterated the commitment of the company to always offer quality services to its customers as  drivers are routinely trained to acquaint them with safety measures in line with the policy of the company. He, however, reassured the preparedness of the company to sustain its accident-free record especially during the Yuletide period.

Meanwhile, Gov. Owelle Rochas Anayo Okorocha has commended the management Global Ginika Services under Mr. Emeka Duru for reviving Imo Transport Company into a profitable venture.

In a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Media, Mr. Ebere Uzoukwa, the governor said his vision for the state as replicated in ITC is to build a new Imo that will create great opportunities for the citizenry. He stated that the state government has generated over 200 million Naira from ITC under the new concession agreement that transferred its management to Global Ginikana Services Limited with over 1000 job opportunities created for Imolites.

The governor posited that with over N3billion Naira investment flow into ITC by the present management, the company has no doubt ranked the  best government owned road transport company in the country. Gov. Okorocha reiterated the commitment of his administration to partner the private sector under Public Private Partnership (PPP) to transform Imo into a model state.

Beloved Imolites, mgbe ona ara ahu ka o na ebi!  It was just a few days ago we reported that Imo contingents on an ITC bus narrowly escaped death in Lagos when their vehicle experienced a break failure. With this new development at ITC,  we can be rest assured of comfortable trips around the Country. As we thank the State Government and Ginika Global services for this new development, we also plead with them to ensure that these buses are properly M-A-I-N-T-A-I-N-E-D. Abi? 🙂
