Lawmakers pass vote of implicit confidence on Rt.Hon.Benjamin Uwajumogu

Honourable members of the Imo State House of Assembly on Thursday 8th of December 2011 unanimously passed a vote of implicit confidence on the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Chukwuemeka Uwajumogu for his people oriented, unbiased legislative leadership and also for synergy between the legislative and executive arms of government.

The speaker was also commended for his ability and desire to transform the Imo State Housenof Assembly complex from a dilapidated structure to a State of the art structure.

The speaker according to a motion sponsored by Hon. Chief Sam-Daddy Anyanwu (Ikeduru State Constituency) and Hon Barrister Simeon Iwunze (Isiala-Mbano Constituency) was commended for exhibiting friendly disposition and father figure and also for giving the lawmakers a sense of belonging without recourse to political party affiliation.

According to Hon Sam-daddy Anyanwu, since the inception of the 5th House of the 3rd Assembly in the State on the 7th of June 2011, the RT. Hon Speaker who was unanimously elected by members of the Assembly has continued to exhibit uncommon, unequalled and unparalleled leadership.

Hear Hon. Sam-Daddy:

“it is an acknowledged fact thatthis Assembly under the able leadership of Mr Speaker has aided in the presentation of 53 motions, out of which 33 have been passed into law”. 35 bills were presented, out of which 6 have been passed into law.”

Also speaking Hon. Barr. Simeon lwunze expressed his happiness in the manner the vibrant and ebullient speaker has been carrying along all the Honourable members of the House.

Hear Hon lwunze, “since it is the desire of the present administration to celebrate heroes while they are alive, it is the view of the Chief sponsors of this motion to celebrate the RT Hon speaker and colleague”.

Hon lwunze continued, “Mr. Speaker has enthroned probity, transparency and accountability in the legislative functions of the State Assembly. Hence he has been vindicated as a role model of true democracy. Not relenting, Hon lwunze also disclosed that confirmation of appointments of Special Advicers, Commissioners, members of  Boards and the Transition Committee chairmen in the State by the House was not followed by any form of monetary inducement or gratification what so ever.

Also in their reaction, the remaining 24 Honorable members of the State Assembly passionately laboured to express their unflinching heart felt support for the ebullient speaker. Infact one of the lawmakers and also a co-sponsor of the motion, Hon brother Stan Dara representing Orsu State constituency commended the vibrant speaker for ensuring that the welfare of the honourable members are guaranteed with the recent provision of 26 Toyota Prado-Jeeps to lawmakers after
waiting for 6 mouths to be given official vehicles.
