MARRIAGE 101: Governor Okorocha advocates for effective communication.

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo state has urged Christians and citizens of the state to save their homes by ensuring a cordial relationship between them and their wives through constant communication.

Speaking at this month’s Women of Divine Initiative at Nouveau Gallery Owerri, Gov. Okorocha explained that effective and regular interaction between husband and wife enhances harmony and togetherness in their homes and urged men not to deny their wives explanation, especially in
some issues that are contentious and may lead to confrontation.

Gov. Okorocha stated that a nation starts from home that is devoid of rancor and acrimony, pointing out that most situations at home, has subconsciously affected the nation, either positively or negatively, arguing that men whose home is in shamble can hardly lead the state or nation.

He described women as God’s refined super creatures that have the capacity to accommodate and endure unpleasant situations.

The Governor emphasized on the role of women in homes and nations’ building and asserted that women play an important and vital role, both in the home and the nation.  He therefore advised women in the state to imbibe the spirit and attitude of loving their husband even when situation does not warrant them to do so.

In her keynote address, the wife of the Executive Governor of Imo state, Mrs. Nkechi Rochas Okorocha, said that women of Divine Destiny Initiative since inception, more than 10 years ago in Jos, Plateau state, has the objective of praying for the nation, winning souls for God and mending broken homes.

Mrs. Okorocha maintained that the association always converge women in the state for prayers to ensure the success of Imo Rescue programme of the state government, which she expressed optimism would bring positive change in the lives of Imo women, and other in Imo state.

In her remark, the chairperson of the occasion and Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Religious Matters, Pastor Mrs. Henrietta Denis commended the wife of the Governor, Mrs. Nkechi Okorocha for her initiatives which she noted was resourceful and timely.

Earlier in a sermon, captioned A WOMAN THAT FEEDS THE NATION, the wife of the General Overseer, Redeem Christian Church of God Lagos, Pastor Mrs. Folu Adeboye said that women are created to perfect the work of God in men, especially to bear good fruits in the homes and entire
nation.

Mrs. Adeboye noted contentment with Godliness as good qualities that women should imbibe in building their homes and nation, pointing out that same qualities instills the fear of God in the children who are leaders of tomorrow.

Reading from the book Judges Chapter 5 verse 7 where she drew her text, Mrs. Adeboye noted that time is of essence and urged women appointees and the wives of the clergies in the state to use their good offices and time to effect positive changes in the lives of women in the state.

She further advised the women to humble themselves despite the position they find themselves and make ample use of other people’s opinion, talents and ideas irrespective of the person’s cadre, pointing out that leaders often fall because they relied solely on their own wisdom.

She also enjoined government workers in the state to obey those in authority and cultivate the habit of industriousness and diligence in carrying out their duties at least to justify their appointment and daily pay.

The highlight of the occasion was the singing and debating competition in which Okigwe zone took the  1st position, and many people gave their lives to Christ during the summit.

A broad spectrum of audience from Imo State Women Associations and Christian denominations graced the occasion.
