Multi Million dollar shopping mall to be built in Imo. What happens to Aladinma mall?

Sen.Annie Okonkwo recently disclosed that Governor Okorocha had attracted a multi-million dollar shopping mall to the State. The project is said to be  worth $500 million US Dollars.

Sen. Annie Okonkwo who is also a major stakeholder in the project  said the shopping mall will be built by a consortium led by Topright and in partnership with Shopright, Walmart and other notable world supermarkets chains.

He stated that the project was feasible due to the conducive environment and infrastructural advancement which Gov. Okorocha’s administration had provided for investment flow into the state.

This is commendable o! But,  how far with the existing Aladinma mall structure? It was only two years ago that the former Governor, Ikedi Ohakim commissioned it and was said to have cost  2.5 Billion  naira.    How it was allowed to become non functional, only God knows. Are we going to abandon it or will the new mall be an extension?

UPDATE:  We contacted the Government House for reconfirmation on the actual figure. The communique from the Press unit stated the sum of $500 Billion  in error.

The real figure is $500 MILLION.

Our blog post has been edited to reflect the corrections.

Thank you.
