Na wa o. The Government House press reports that no fewer than 15 communities in Oguta LGA of Imo state have been sacked by an unusual flood caused by the overflowing Oguta Lake.
Speaking during a visit to Ndegwu, one of the affected communities in Oguta, Gov. Okorocha described the situation as unusual in Imo state and regretted that most people affected by the flood are poor farmers, artisans that hardly make ends meet on daily basis. He lamented that most of the affected communities are the oil producing areas thus making it difficult for oil workers to attend their daily functions. He noted that the situation in Oguta is presently causing untold hardship on the people as such appealed to the federal government to quickly intervene by rescuing the ugly situation.
Gov. Okorocha disclosed that the state government had concluded arrangements to compile the names of the affected individuals and houses to enable the state contribute their own quota towards solving their immediate accommodation problems.
This is not good news especially as the State Government is working hard to attract investors to Oguta Lake. While we patiently wait for the intervention of the Federal Government, does anyone know how far we have gone with the proposed Marine University in Oguta?
No offence abeg but, hope the water gods are not trying to say something?
