Okorocha must stop ridiculing the Igbo tradition – says Ilomuanya

Eze-ilomuayaA few days back, we shared a Press release from the Imo state government informing the general public that Governor Rochas Okorocha had constituted a Committee on the vacant Ezeship stool in the Obinugwu Autonomous community following the “dethronement” of Eze Cletus Ilomunanya. The committee, according to the statement would be chaired by the Secretary to Government of Imo State, Prof. Anthony Anwuka.

Reacting to the recent development, Eze Ilomuanya in a text message to IMO STATE BLOG expressed that the Governor’s actions were unconstitutional and if he was not called to order early, the level of embarrassment to Imo state would be uncontrollable.

“The action of the Imo state government is ridiculous and laughable. It is the community that chooses their Eze and not the state government. There are defined procedures for this. I advise Okorocha to stop making a caricature of himself. He should stop ridiculing Igbo traditional institution in his blind pursuit of selfish agenda. I and my people are together and one million Okorocha’s can’t separate us. ” he wrote.

Speaking with IMO STATE BLOG, a top ranking member of the state government stated that the face off with Ilomuanya was not a vendetta as perceived by many rather, it was purely an issue with the Imo state government.
