The Imo State governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha has reiterated that the Imo Rescue Mission administration will continue to promote the Community Government Councils (CGC) in order to sustain rapid social and economic development in the rural areas.
Governor Okorocha who stated this during a Christmas banquet with traditional rulers in the State at the Nick’s Banquet Hall, Government House Owerri, expressed his unreserved appreciation to the Royal Fathers for their roles in the actualization of CGC as well as promotion of peace, security and development in their various domains.
Briefing the traditional rulers on the achievements of the Rescue Mission government, Owelle Okorocha enumerated a number of people oriented projects both completed and on-going including the palace of Eze Imo and the Traditional Rulers’ Council Secretariat. He further said that his administration has recovered most of the State investments sold out by previous governments and assured the reactivation of all moribund industries in the State.
Owelle Okorocha said that his second term bid as governor is to ensure consolidation of Imo Free Education programme, Community Government Council and the numerous masses oriented projects initiated by the present administration. On the political situation in the country, Governor Okorocha called on the royal fathers to support the All Progressives Congress at both the State and Federal levels, pointing out that “APC government can stop Boko Haram”, as he described the presidential flag bearer, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari as a leader who has the courage to face the security challenge of the nation.
