Nigeria’s first Olympic Gold Medalist, Chioma Ajunwa Okpara has justbeen delivered of triplets. For many years , she waited on the Lord for the fruit of the womb. It is said that delay is not denial and God’s time is the best. These words just manifested in the life of our sister, Chioma.
The year 2012 started out on a good note for Mrs.Okpara when she was made Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Meiran police station in Lagos. Aged 40, the Imo State born indigene entered her name into the golden book of History when she won the Olympic Gold Medal at the Atlanta olympics in 1996.
With her victory, she became the first African woman to win Gold in a field event. According to CNN, she is still the only individual gold medalist in Nigeria. Daughter of Ahiazu Mbaise, pride of Imo, amazon of the South East. Chioma has made Nigeria proud. Below, we’ve attached a bonus clip of a recent CNN interview with Mrs. Chioma Ajunwa- Okpara.
