Following the kidnap of Channels TV Correspondent, Temitope Kutiyi on the wee hours of Monday 11th April, 2016, The Commissioner of Police, Imo State CP Taiwo Lakanu, fdc led a team of over 100 operatives of the Command for rescue operation.
In an “Operation Bush-Combing”, the Commissioner of Police led a team of operatives to Ohoba in Ohaji/Egbema LGA, where intelligence report revealed that the victim was in captivity.
After a 3-hour search operation in the village and adjoining forests, the kidnappers were under pressure to release the kidnapped victim who was subsequently rescued unhurt on Tuesday 12th April, 2016.
The notorious kidnap suspects involved in the kidnap of the victim have been identified and are on the run. Intensive investigation is in progress to ensure the arrest of the suspects and subsequent prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police, Imo State wishes to use this opportunity to appreciate the contributions of friends of the victim and other well-meaning individuals who were in solidarity with the police as the rescue operation lasted.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police further warns that as long as he remains the Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, there will be no hiding place for men of the underworld and therefore advises all those involved in criminal activities to leave the state in their own interest.
