READERS’ MAIL: We really need God’s intervention in Imo State in terms of governance.
I haven’t seen anything happening in Orlu or Okigwe, if not demolition of peoples houses/properties. Those road demacation on okigwe roads are not even up to 1/10th of okigwe allocation in the last one year. The roads and gate in owerri have been abandoned and the contractors claimed they are being owed up to 100million.
The concord annex was leased to someone to build, renovate and manage for a number of years. Govt house is where the governor lives and doesnt have anything to offer us. Tell me or show me any new mega project this govt. has completed. This govt. forgot that people laid down their lives to make sure it came to existence, all we get is hardship instead of rescue.
No money, people are complaining, people are relocating. All we hear is that the money is been used for development. What development? Is it free education? How much is that. 90% of primary school kids in Imo go to private schools and in tertiary institutions, you can’t take exam in Imsu without showing your school fees receipt. So who are they deceiving?
Many LG workers have lost their jobs, a lawyer friend had his salary slashed. 20k minimum wage is not up to 13k, and there is a bill on the floor of the house seeking to slash the salary of workers, Money been spent wihout the approval of the house, IMSU established in Ogboko without a bill sent to the house. Approval of N50b by the house just 3 days to the end of 2011 financial year. Using civil servants against the wish of NLC for CGC evenwhen the 4th tier is illegal.
A plan to sack close to 1000 workers whom am very sure voted for this govt. The use of 30year old master plan to demolish poor peoples homes. The school on Wethdral road is ok, but must we bring all the school in Owerri municipal in one compound. Is it conducive for learning? I haven’t seen anything in my LG except the general hospital been buit with red mud and by local mason and labourers. Is this the kind of health center we envisage in this mordern era. instead of this, we can still manage the poultry we have/had as health centers.
The zinc at the state secretariat was changed with a less quality zinc. Beautiful roadabouts have been demolished for months now without any replacement. most Traffic lights not working. Street light is a thing of the past. Late payment of salaries, Heartland players complaining of non payment of salary. Kidnapping, car snatching and keke armed robbery on the increase.
The govt. has not done anything to alleviate the suffering of the masses that fought Ohakim to vote it in. I am not blind and i dont see much. If you think am not telling the truth,dont insult me, rather list the achievements of this govt. Even the govt claims it has not borrowed a dime, but we are aware the house approved a loan of N12b last year which they claimed N6b was to repay ohakims loan. We really need Gods intervention in Imo State in terms of governance.
