Report from the Town hall meeting with Information Minister, Labaran Maku in Imo State.

The Imo State Citizens Forum, a forum created for contributions, questions And answers for citizens and questions from Political Leaders, started at exactly 2pm with a National Anthem and Prayers.

Of course, the Methodist, Owerri District Bishop with a marathon but soul lifting and just prayer before the announcement of the Social Media addresses and other electronic news shopping stations and addresses.

Imo State Hon. Commissioner of  Information and Strategy said the welcome address where he rather talked about the rivalry between Federal and State Government on projects cites visits.

The bomb came when the NUJ President, Garba Mohammed describe Gov. Okorocha as a big asset to Nigeria at large. He was elated that Gov. Okorocha was able to deliver all these in seventeen months. For him, among all the monumental projects, he holds education to his heart. He however said that Gov Okorocha has done so much in Education, Health and massive Road Construction.

RATTAWU President hit the nail on the head saying that Okorocha so far has dwarfed many other States. He further told propagandas to go and hide their head in shame for peddling lies. He however said Okorocha will make Imo a desired place to visit before the end of four years.

Aseba Baba, the President of NAWATCH declared Okorocha as the future Leader of Nigeria. She said she has not seen a thing like Gov. Okorocha. She did not just extol Okorochal’s innovation and free education policy but more importantly the quality injected into it with great teachers. He called on other leaders to learn form Okorocha’s humility, love, sacrifice and spirit of team work.

Mr. Labaran Maku, Hon. Minister of Information started by saying that Good Governance Tour was designed to create room for accountability. He described President Goodluck Jonathan as a performer. He said Power is nexus for the development of Nigeria. He said ten New power stations are being installed for Egbema Power Plant is one, which will deliver 338 mega watts of electricity. Other achievements of President Jonathan is the renovation in Owerri Airport with installation of safety gadgets and other effective communication gadgets. Again, the developments in Federal University of Technology with Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education. The Federal Government is also creating 10,000 jobs for Imo State in 2013.

The Minister commended Governor Okorocha on Education particularly the skill acquisition centre like ICAPS and Young Scientist College. He called   on Okorocha to use local service providers in the area of school uniform, chairs and desks. He further called on Gov. Okorocha to also look into Local Government issue for easy administration.

On the Contrary, the Governor said he had tried all he could to resolve the Local Government Impasse even before the expiration of their tenure. Meanwhile, the tenure of the said PDP Chairmen had expired since August 8, 2012 according to the amendment law signed into law by the former Governor, Chief Ikedi Ohakim.
