TRAFFIC DECONGESTION: Every road in Imo will be opened up – Gov. Okorocha

Governor Rochas Okorocha says that the on-going massive road construction in Owerri, the state capital will go a long way to decongest the city and restore free-flow of traffic.

The governor said this while fielding questions from newsmen during an inspection tour of on-going projects spread across the state. He said that the famous road that originates from Warehouse i n Owerri metropolis to Aba road axis is constructed to reduce the heavy flow of traffic being experienced along Douglas road, Owerri. He also disclosed that the road is named after the former governor of the state, late Sam Mbakwe, whose contributions to the development of the state is worth emulating.

At the wetheral road, Owerri, the governor led his team to the
proposed bridge linking the wetheral road to the Aba road where he stated that the project was to further decongest the metropolis. He remarked that the link-road would connect travelers to the Imo Airport without them passing through Douglas road.

On the construction of roads designated as federal roads, the governor said that there is a provision for seeking for refund of expenses incurred in such projects, stressing that “every road in Imo is Imo road and would be opened up”.
