Today, Governor Rochas Okorocha was at the Voice of America studios in Washington D.C . He was an invited Special Guest on their T.V program, Straight Talk Africa.
Hosted by Shaka Ssali, it examines topics of special interest to Africans. The feature with Governor Okorocha discussed the election of South Africa’s Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, as the first female Chairperson of the African Union Commission, the rise of terror attacks and suicide-bombings in northern Nigeria after the Islamist group Boko Haram re-emerged on the scene in 2009 and much more.
The Honourable Commissioner for Information & Strategy, Mr. Chinedu Offor extended an invitation to IMOSTATEBLOG.com. We were privileged to see things first hand and now we are back to report what we saw.
Governor Okorocha was received with a warm reception. In our humble opinion, the taping went well and Governor Okorocha was at his best HOWEVER, the only comma was the ommission of “IMO STATE” in the entire 1 Hour duration of the program. Thought we were working towards attracting foreign investors to Imo? With all the progress being recorded in our state, at least there should have been a small slot to plug in /showcase the development in Imo State to the world.
That was a golden opportunity that was mismanaged! How can you invite a whole Governor of a State to such a program and not ask him about the affairs in his State biko nu? Mind you, this was Governor Okorocha’s MAIDEN visit to the prestigious Broadcasting institution. Makes no sense at all.
On a lighter note, its good to know we have a Governor who can step out of the box and address various issues bothering not only on Nigeria but Africa as a whole. The show was LIVE and His Excellency did not disappoint. He was sharp and very articulate in his responses but that’s just our opinion. We want to hear what you think.
