Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Anayo Okorocha has disclosed plans to launch a special Youth Job Scheme to create employment opportunities for graduates and school leavers in the state.
Governor Okorocha made this disclosure while interacting with some Oil and Gas operators at a dinner organized in honor by his Special Adviser on Petroleum, Chief Raph Ekezie in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Governor Okorocha explained that his mission is to liaise with
industrialists, Oil and Gas operators and further agree on
establishing oil drilling and fertilizer plants in Imo State to revamp the economy and create more job in the state.
While he called on Imo industrialists based in Port Harcourt to consider extending their business to their home state, Governor Okorocha commended Chief Ekezie for his success in the petroleum industry stating that such venture remains part of the solution to the liberation of Nigeria from neo-colonialism.
He attributed the on-going massive development in the state as a result of his vision and sacrifices by all in the present administration which led to the adoption of 73% budgetary provision for capital projects and 27% for recurrent expenditure. He further stressed that his administration is committed to providing adequate security and conductive environment for investment flow into the state.
In his remarks, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Petroleum and Chairman of Drillog Petro-Dynamics, an oil drilling and servicing company said the on-going infrastructural and manpower development in Imo could be described as a revolution in Nigeria.
He expressed his willingness to establish in Imo owing to sincerity and commitment so far exhibited by Governor Okorocha. He also urged the governor to ensure the sustenance of adequate security and power stability to attract more investment into the state.
Also speaking, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Prof. Fabian Osuji said “I am certain that anybody who visited home of recent would confirm that there is a new vision and transformation in Imo that in the next two years nothing will be left to be done”.
In his words, Dr Innocent Ekwem, an Oil and Gas operator admitted that Governor Okorocha is changing the face of Owerri, Orlu and Okigwe through massive infrastructural projects and urged him to maintain the good work for the benefits of the people.
