The bar of governance has been raised – Governor Rochas Okorocha

Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha says the massive transformation projects and programmes embarked upon by his administration is a practical development of his commitment to make the state better.

Speaking in a reception organized in his honour by Imo Development Partners and Indigenes in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Governor Okorocha urged the people to always pray for his government to remain focused and resolute in ensuring good governance in the state.

“Coming to Rivers State today has created more challenges for me in the quest to enthrone good governance.  I shall go home and re-adjust. The bar of governance has been raised.  Our target is to make Imo and Rivers one through road connectivity” Governor Okorocha said.

He expressed gratitude to President Goodluck Jonathan for according the departed Igbo leader, Dim Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu a heroic burial rite and also hailed his Rivers State counterpart, Governor Rotimi Chibuike Amechi for his enormous contributions.

He enjoined Ndigbo to seize the opportunity of Ojukwu’s burial to reposition and unite themselves in the affairs of the nation.
In his speech, Governor Amechi commended his Imo counterpart for his vision of creating a new Imo and promised to collaborate with him in the areas of common interest between Imo and Rivers States.

He commended Imo people resident in Rivers for living harmoniously with their host assuring that his government would soon provide 24-hour power supply for all business entrepreneurs in the state to boost development and job creation.

Governor Amechi disclosed that 20% of the state foreign scholarship and special school programmes are open to Imo people and other non-indigenes living in the state.

Earlier in his address, Dr Sab Mba on behalf of the organizers of the event hailed Governor Okorocha for his wonderful achievements within the period which includes massive roads projects in both rural and urban areas as well as the free education programme to tertiary level.

He urged the governor to improve on the security situation of the state so as to attract more private investors to the state.
