American City of Newark, New Jersey pledges Economic assistance to Imo State.

According to a Press Release signed by the Honourable Commissioner of Information & Strategy, Mr. Chinedu Offor, the City of Newark, New Jersey has pledged to assist Imo State in Infrastructural development, Education and Development!!!

Making the pledge during a visit by Gov. Rochas Okorocha, Vice President of the City of Newark, Mildred Trump promised to work towards strengthening cultural ties.

” Imo State and the state of New Jersey shares a lot in common. I believe with mutual cooperation,we will achieve mutual benefit for the people of both states who share the same ancestral link to Africa”

Ms.Trump who expressed the readiness of buisness men from the State of New Jersey to explore the potentials of Imo State promised to help the state achieve its full potentials by linking it up with other State> Governments and businesses in the United States.

The Council woman said a practical demonstration of the City’s desire to partner with Imo State is its decision to award Governor Okorocha its highest civilian honor – The Medal of Hope and an Honorary member of the City council – the first African leader to earn such title.

To be honest, there are credible opportunities by Rochas to make the best of interactions with US at all levels. All attention on sundry awards and self recognition without achievement seem far fetched. This is not indication of an office holder with credible plan.

For starters, why not do a bilateral with New Jersey for Imo graduates to do graduate studies in their universities. Delta State has a similar programme with a US state. US remains the top dog in the world. Take advantage, man. How can Imo business persons benefit from AGOA export scheme?

Positive intentions can only be captured from empirical performance. Travelling around without substance in return makes one look like Ada nwa nchaghara.

I hope Rochas will not say opportunity vanished when it becomes apparent he wasted time.

A touch of irony! Rochas is glad to receive award from a US local government while at home he’s suffocating local governments to the point of their destruction. Ije uwa na amamihe! Bikonu lead by example. It is better for charity to start from ulo anyi.

Onyenwere for you to be comparing US elected local government officials with those criminals and thugs in Nigeria that werent even elected in the first place is an insult to democracy for those who understands what it is, pls our those so called elected menbers are not elected but they came to be there cos they know some or the other.Nigeria local government my foot.

This report is disappointing because Ms Phillips referenced in this piece is not an offiicial of the city of Newark. I think the reporters ot the event in Neweark need to stand corrected.

How authentic is IMo State Blog? Who supervises it? And why don’t reporters of events be truthful in their reports.
