COS Prince Eze Madumere Vindicated!! Aquitted of all Charges.

Chief of Staff to the Imo State Government, Prince Eze Madumere and 17 others were on Friday (June 17th, 2011) aquitted of all 5 charges leveled against him by the former  State Governor, Chief Ikedi Ohakim.

In the words of Mary Todd Lincoln,  although Clouds and darkness may surround us,  Heaven is just, and the day of triumph will surely come, when justice and truth will be vindicated.

Indeed, the prophesy came to pass.

While delivering her verdict,  the presiding Chief Magistrate Mrs.  Victoria Isiguzo stated that there was  no “substantial evidence” from the prosecution to prove the case against the accused persons.

Responding to Press men, the amiable Madumere said he had forgiven those who arrested and prosecuted them. He further disclosed that the Imo State Government was working to ensure that both the Police Force and the Ministry of Justice would come to a pact that, anyone arrested would be charged to court within 72 hours or released.

In March 2011, COS  Prince Eze Madumere along with 18 others were accused of  mobilising and illegally assembling thugs , with the aim of disrupting the final campaign rally of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state causing a breakdown of law and order, thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 249 (d) of the Criminal Code Cap C38 laws of the federation of Nigeria, 2004, as applicable to the state.

They were remanded in Custody for 21 days under the directives of the rejected former Governor Ikedi Ohakim.  Shorlty after their release, 43yr old Mr. Friday Uzoma died   from poor ill-health as a result of the torture he received while in Custody. He didnt have to die.

I applaud the Chief of Staff, Prince Eze Madumere for the heart of forgiveness he has. After such a humiliating experience for a Crime you never committed, it takes a true Christian with the fear of God to forgive.

From the Prison cell to a Principal Seat in Government, another beautiful story in our History.
