Governor, Rochas Okorocha is expected to attend an investment Forum in Washington DC, united States of America [USA] holding from April, 10-11, 2012.
The forum with the theme “Nigeria, transforming Agro-business through Investment” organized by the Embassy of Nigeria in USA is aimed at growing the Nigerian economy through investments in non-oil sectors such as agriculture.
It will also highlight the numerous opportunities in the Nigerian Agriculture sector for the US private sector as well as showcase the value added potentials of major crops such as cocoa, rice, cassava sorghum, soybean, oil palm, maize, cotton, livestock, agro-processing/business and horticulture with a focus on how domestic production and processing could be increased through technology inputs and value chain enhancement.
The Forum, according to organizers, will be opened by the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Arc Namadi Sambo, while the Minister of Agriculture and rural Development will lay the framework for discussion through a presentation of Agriculture Transformation Agenda.
Governor Okorocha will make a presentation on the vast Agricultural potentials of Imo State for investment, value chain crops on agriculturally focused projects.
The governor will further seek US partnership and technological inputs on the domestic and processing in agro-business.
The forum will also afford a good opportunity for Governor Okorocha to engage in valuable contacts and networking to boost the ongoing transformation in the agricultural sector aimed at ensuring food security in Imo state.
