The death has been announced of a former Commissioner in Imo state, Sir Innocent Oparadike.
Oparadike was a renowned journalist per excellence. One of the earliest Mass Communication students to graduate with a First Class Degree from the University of Nigeria Nsukka. He went to obtain his Msc in Mass Communication from the University of Lagos.
According to family sources, Sir Oparadike passed on in his home in Lagos on Monday (January 23rd) after suffering a heart attack.
He was the first non-northerner to edit the Kaduna based publication, New Nigerian in the early 80s. Sir Oparadike served as the Honourable Commissioner for Information & Culture under the late Chief Evan Enwerem. May his soul rest in peace.
