Recently, Chief Martin Agbaso held a press conference in Lagos where he revisited the issue of the Sir Jude Agbaso’s impeachment. He said that all along he had been minding his business but since the present politics in Imo state thrived on treachery and falsehood, he had decided to join the race for the 2015 gubernatorial election .
Describing Governor Okorocha as one who paraded himself in the garb of an 18th centuary emperor, Chief Martin Agbaso for the umpteenth time vowed to ensure that justice was not only done but seen by the people to have be DONE!
Here’s an excerpt from DailyTimes:
I had made up my mind not to contest the 2015 governorship election in Imo State. I wanted to concentrate attention in my businesses. But now, I will contest the 2015 governorship election in Imo State. I will do this, because of the politics of treachery and falsehood that is going on in Imo State presently. I will go into the 2015 fight with a determination that has never been seen before in me,” Agbaso told Daily Times.
In an exclusive interview he granted Daily Times in his Victoria Island office in Lagos, Agbaso said recalled that he had told former Imo State Governor, Ikedi Ohakim that 2007 would be his waterloo in politics but that Ohakim was so blinded by power to see reasons.
“I have spent a greater part of my adult life fighting for the good of Imo people. We supported Rochas Okorocha to become governor, providing the platform, mobilising the people and risking so much unto the struggle because we thought there was an honest intention to serve and better the lots of Imo people.
“What we see now is politics of deceit, of putting the interest of the people aside while pursuing inordinate ambition. There is no difference between the situation of Imo politics before 2011 and what obtains now. And just like we joined Imo people to chase out the bad leadership then, we will again, align with the people to see to the end of this present dragon that wants to destroy our dear state,” Agbaso said.
On the purported impeachment of Jude Agbaso, the former deputy governor some days ago, Martin said the process leading to the impeachment was flawed from beginning and therefore speaks volume of the dubious basic instinct of governor Okorocha whom he said has decked himself in the garb of an 18th century emperor. He vowed to ensure that justice is not only done, but seen to have been done……
We are leaving the law enforcement agencies to do their work. The plot was equally targeting me, to extend the backlash to my person and political career, all because of 2015. But I believe in Nigeria’s judiciary. I have absolute confidence that the law will exonerate the just,” he said.
You can fool some of the people sometime, but you cannot misled and lie to the people all the time. Every man will be judged by the content of his actions and Rochas cannot escape the consequences of his actions,” he concluded.
