Our first lady, Nneoma Nkechi Rochas Okorocha has called on all women in the state to take advantage of the on-going free cervical cancer screening in order to reduce mortality rate from cervix cancer. She made this call at Obinze Primary Health Center in the Owerri West L.G.A while flagging off the screening program.
Stressing the importance of the screening, she advised that early detection was the antidote to cervix cancer adding that people died out of the disease because almost all the cases of this cancer were detected late when it must have spread incurably.
The screening is being organized by the State government in collaboration with S.O. Solidarieta Onlus, Pathologists beyond Borders and the Federal Medical Center, Owerri.
