The Imo State Government has changed the firm handling the Nekede-Ihiagwa Road.
The state Deputy Governor Sir Jude Agbaso confirmed this to journalists during a recent inspection of on-going road projects in the state. Sir Agbaso who is also the state Commissioner for Works said that the action of government was to ensure efficiency in the project.
‘Imo State Government attaches great importance to Nekede-Ihiagwa Road. Among other things, the road transverses three great institutions; the Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Police Training School and the Federal University of Technology Owerri. It is also an important access road that can help reduce vehicular pressures on Owerri town. Government is aware of the hardship people suffer because of the bad nature of the road and that is why it does not want to take chances’.
While inspecting some other road projects in Okigwe, the Deputy Governor expressed satisfaction at what he described as a good job by the contractors handling the inner ring roads in Okigwe and however, urged those handling the other roads to step up their pace of work.
At the Mechanic Village Okigwe, Sir Agbaso condemned how the drainage on the asphalted road in the area is being misused by some mechanics and called on those involved to put a stop to such an act.-
