The ministerial nominee from Imo State, Professor Gozie Anwukah, says his nomination is on personal merit and capability and not because he is an in-law to the Imo State Governor.
According to this report from Channels TV, Professor Anwukah made the remark when he appeared before the Senate Committee on Ethics and Privilege yesterday (Wednesday).
The committee is investigating several petitions leveled against the ministerial nominee over mismanagement of funds when he was the Vice Chancellor of Imo State University.
Professor Anwukah has denied the allegations. The Committee is expected to submit the report on the petition to the Senate at plenary.
The Senate will resume proceedings today to continue the screening of ministerial nominees.
Many people interviewed believe Prof.Anwukah is qualified to serve as Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
