IMSG partners U.S based NGO on healthcare.

imsgAs part of efforts to provide improved health care delivery system in the State, the Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has expressed resolve to partner with an American based Non- Governmental Organization, American African Outreach Mission to provide an ultra modern hospital in the State.

Governor Okorocha stated this when he received in audience the American African Outreach mission that called on him at the Government House Owerri.

The Imo State Governor who pointed out that health had remained a major challenge in the country, stressed the establishment of a world class hospital in the State will go a long way in addressing the health needs of the people of the State.

Owelle Okorocha encouraged the group to utilize the existing General Hospitals in Ikeduru and Owerri North as a test run while awaiting the construction of the ultra modern hospital.

He thanked the NGO for their interest in Imo State and assured that the State government would provide the enabling environment for the realization of the project.
Earlier, the leader of the team, Dr. Uche Onokalam said they were in the State to form partnership and relationship with government. He said that as an Imo indigene, he saw the need to bring the Outreach Mission to the State to complement the efforts of the governor in the areas of health and education.

Dr. Onokalam noted that their goal is to make Imo State a health tourism destination of Nigeria through the provision of world class hospital and personnel. He regretted that the nation has continued to suffer huge capital flight as a result of overseas medical treatment by many of her citizens.


He further disclosed that the American African Outreach Mission has madearrangements to activate the on-line programmes of Liberty Christian University were Imo people and other interested Nigerian can run degree programmes.

Contributing, a member of the team and a physician in Mississippi USA, Dr. Andre Godwin, after assessing the health facilities in the State, said that the State has the potentials of becoming the heath tourism destination of Nigeria and commended the Governor for accepting to partner with their organization.
She said the Outreach mission would assist government provide adequate health care delivery service that can be compared to what obtains in the developed countries of the world.
