The Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha gave the assurance when the Leaders of Nkwerre LGA called on him at the Government House, Owerri recently.
Owelle Okorocha said the Rescue Mission will provide empowerment programmes this year to many Imo citizens and maintained that his administration has demonstrated fairness in the distribution of democracy dividends in the State; ‘I have shown no partiality in sharing developmental projects because we are fighting poverty to bring development in every part of the State.’
The Governor who disclosed his intentions to upgrade the Nkwerre General Hospital to a Specialist Hospital, as well as transform the area into modern city with adequate street lights also said he will complete all ongoing road, school and hospital projects in Nkwerre including their request for pipe-borne water. ‘I will do more to make Nkwerre better because the people have contributed to the development of Imo State in general and have the spirit of appreciation’ – he maintained.
The Imo Chief Executive however, advised the Nkwerre leaders and other citizens to shun any act or Ezeship tussle capable of disrupting the peace of the area but follow laid down rules in enthroning rulers that have the interest of the people at heart.
Governor Okorocha used the occasion to thank Nkwerre people for turning out en-mass to identify with the All Progressives Congress (APC) Membership Registration exercise held recently in Imo State. He reaffirmed that APC is the only political party in Nigeria that will bring needed change for the betterment of Nigerians as well as give ‘Ndigbo’ the long desired leadership position at the federal seats which PDP administrations have denied them over the years.
Speaking earlier, the Chairman, Traditional Rulers Council in Nkwerre LGA, Eze Raphael Anorue, expressed the people’s joy and solidarity with the Rescue Mission Governor on his victory at the Supreme Court, Abuja, the birth of his twin grandchildren recently and to thank him for carrying the people of Nkwerre along especially in government appointments and developmental projects in their LGA.
Eze Anorue appealed the Governor to build a roundabout at the Mgbabano Nkwerre to curb the incessant road accidents at the junction and to reactive the dilapidated Eziama Water Scheme, Nkwerre.
Contributing, the Eshi of Nkwerre, Eze Chijioke Okwara commended Governor Rochas Okorocha for good governance and tremendous achievements describing him as ‘a role model in governance, one who identifies his enemies and converts them rather than demolish them.’ He assured the Governor that Nkwerre people are solidly behind him even in the 2015 election.
Adding her voice on behalf of the women, Chief Mrs. Cynthia Odunze noted that the wife of the Governor, Nneoma Nkechi Okorocha is a pacesetter in her SNARP programme which has brought shelter and succor to many indigent women in the State and prayed God to bless her more.
