The Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has called on the Nigerian Prisons and the Judiciary to speed up their facilitate Justice for those awaiting trials saying that some prison inmates are there for some unjustified circumstances.
Addressing the Nigeria Prisons officers led by Greg Adinfono, during the hand over of an operational vehicle to the men of Nigeria prisons, the Chief of Staff to the Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere called on the Nigerian Prisons and other security agencies with the Judiciary to handle all justiceable matters with diligence so as to free those who may not be guilty of the offences so accused them of.
His words, “we have had experiences where men and women incarcerated and have awaited trial for many years no just cause. It is usually painful to discover at the end of the day that these categories of suspects are not guilty of the alleged offences. That is the reason His Excellency Owelle Rochas Okorocha in his wisdom created a bureau for Justice and Fairness. Today, in demonstration of his support for the Nigerian Prisons, His Excellency, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has donated this operational vehicle”.
It will be recalled that Chief of Staff to Imo Governor, Prince Eze Madumere was once unjustly incarcerated during the last April Gubernatorial elections for no other reason than to starve his camp of his role due to the strategic position he occupied at the Rochas Campaign Organisation. And by his experience his experience having being in the prison environment, he stands in a better position to also narrate the experiences of prisons inmates.
In response, the leader of the Nigerian prison officers, Greg Adinfono described the Governor as a visionary leader. While thanking him for the kind gesture, he averred that the operational vehicle will help the Nigerian Prisons in facilitating justice.
