NLC, TUC Threaten showdown; Strike to Resume in Imo State.

Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) have warned that they may resume the suspended strike in Imo state if the government fails to resolve the industrial dispute. The NLC had directed workers to return to work after a two-day stand-off with the government over non-payment of 20 months’ arrears of salaries and pensions and alleged interference in the election of state officers. The suspension of the strike was to last two weeks, during which the government was expected to meet the workers’ demands. The NLC and TUC have asked the government to reschedule the date for discussion towards resolving the dispute, and failure to do so may lead to the resumption of the suspended strike.
