Clinton Amadi, Labour Party State Assembly Candidate Arrested In Imo.

Honourable Clinton Amadi, the Labour Party candidate for Imo State House of Assembly in Owerri municipal constituency, has been arrested by the police. He was taken into custody on Tuesday afternoon at the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) Imo State Headquarters in Owerri while attempting to obtain a certified copy of the INEC results for the March 18th state assembly election.

Amadi alleges that INEC officials conspired with the police from the Tiger Base unit of the Imo State command to have him arrested. The Labour Party has not yet made an official statement regarding the arrest of their candidate, while Major General Jack Ogunewe (Rtd), a leading aspirant for Imo State Governorship race, has called it a violation of human rights.
