No side deals with State Contractors- Prince Eze Madumere
Chief of Staff to the State Governor, Prince Eze Madumere has reaffirmed the commitment of the Okorocha Administration to curb corruption in the State.
In a brief phone interview with IMO STATE BLOG, he assured that all Contracts awarded by the State Government would be based solely on merit.
His words:
I want to assure the indigenes of the State that the Owelle Rochas Okorocha Administration is on a mission to succeed in bringing change to the people of Imo State.
Few weeks ago, the Governor declared that all the abandoned Building projects from the time of Late Sam Mbakwe regime to date will be addressed.
Every contract in the state will be based on Merit. There will be no 10 percent.
When I say there will be no percent, I mean there will be no arranged side deals with the Government. All contracts that would be awarded in the State will be based on Merit and every Company will be paid.
We then questioned if the State will have enough funds to cover the projects. This was what he had to say.
Yes. As you are aware, the Governor has slashed the security votes from N6.5billion to N2.5Billion. As a team, we are all making sacrifices to continually save costs for the State. All the savings will go towards accomplishing the FREE EDUCATION programme and in funding the Projects.
As they say, if Corruption must be stopped; it has to start from the TOP. It has been the same story from Administration to the other. The responses from the Chief of Staff, clearly indicates that the State Government is determined to run on transparency. We wish the Rescue mission success. We do not want to hear any story down the line. May God help us to pursue any wuru-wuru contractor that will bring us drama.
