The Imo State governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has announced plans to establish three more plantations as part of industrialization policy and upgrade the Imo Polytechnic into a University and create the enabling ground for industrial revolution in the State that will gainfully employ youths and eradicate poverty among the people.
Owelle Okorocha who said this during his campaign rally at Ohaji Egbema recently noted that in the past three and half years, his government succeeded in regularizing many sensitive areas like education, infrastructure and security, pointing out that in the next four years, “I will ensure the massive development and stabilization of the State, provide factories, industries, and job opportunities until there are no more idle minds. I have crossed the bridge of poverty and by God’s grace every Imolite shall cross the bridge of poverty,”
He explained that with the full payment of electricity bills, there was no reason for EEDC not to extend light to all communities and therefore directed the contractor handling the electricity project to expedite action and ensure that power is supplied to few villages remaining within one week or face the consequence.
The Imo Chief Executive revealed that major roads in the LGA will be dualized to link other parts of the State making Imo a one-city State but urged the people to shun ethnicity and encourage partnership that will attract the establishment of developmental projects in the LGA.
The governor who presented candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the House of Assembly, House of Representatives and the Senate to the people said the Party has credible candidates who will bring development to every part of the State and urged them to vote for APC.
Earlier, the Chairman of Traditional Rulers in the LGA, Eze Sylvester A. Okpuodu, while receiving the governor and his campaign team at his palace, said the people have resolved to vote massively for the re-election of Owele Okorocha for extending the dividends of democracy to the LGA by erecting primary school storey buildings in every ward, new ultra-modern General Hospital, N500 million ISOPADEC youth empowerment fund, free education, tackling youth restiveness as well as restoring electricity supply to the area. “We have resolved to stand behind you with all we have and give you full support and all votes. Rochas we know.”
The people prayed for the victory of the governor and all APC candidates at all levels.
In an interview, Prof Okee Okoro said ‘Governor Okorocha has done well by fulfilling his campaign promises; so when a man has done well, you encourage him to do more;’ while Hon. Gideon Mefor, said ‘APC is the shortest part for the Igbos to be President so no other Party wins again in this LGAs but APC.’
Adding their voice, both Mr. Uju Kingsley and Mr. Eric Nwanom said the people have interest in Governor Okorocha because he had done exceptionally well in restoring peace in the land and providing roads to areas that had none in past governments such as Aso, Obire, Umuojiokpara, Ekugba, Oforola, Umukene etc.
