PETITION REVIEW: House of Assembly sets up ADHOC committee

The Imo State House of Assembly has set-up adhoc committees to look into petitions brought before it by the aggrieved citizens of the State.

To this end, an Adhoc committee headed by Hon. Ikechukwu Amuka(Ideato South) has been mandated to look into petitions brought by the National Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO) in conjunction with Nigeria lorry Drivers Association (NLDA) on complaints of injustice, abetting and detention.

The Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Benjamin  Uwajumogu informed the House at the sitting that he had received over thirty petitions on the matter and stressed the need for the matters to be handled urgently to avoid conflicts arising from breakdown of law and order. Other members of the committee include Hon. Victor Mere (Owerri Municipal) and Hon Innocent Ekeh (Owerri West).

Also, a three – man ad-hoc committee under the chairmanship of Hon. Celestine Ngobiwu of Obowo State constituency with Hon. Ngozi – Pat Ekeji and Hon Stan Dara as members to look into the petition of Nigeria Union of Local Government employees (NULGE) on the non- realease of the statutory 1% meant for the training of local government workers in the State.

The petition from National Association of Licensed Insurance Agents on Imo Unified manifest scheme also received attention. The Adhoc committee headed by Hon Ugonna Ozurigbo (OZB) with Hon Simeon Iwunze and Hon Dan Ikpeazu as members have been mandated to look into it.
