Our feature for the week is the Ikemba Ojukwu Convention Centre and recreation park. This project was built as a tribute to our late supreme leader, hero and nationalist, Odimegwu Chukwemeka Ojukwu by our state Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha. It also includes a Hall of Fame and Villa for the distinguished (ndi kara aka).
IMO STATE BLOG was privileged to tour the construction site. We would like to use this medium to thank the Chief of Staff, Prince Eze Madumere who facilitated our access to the work site.
As we can see from the photos below, the building has been completed. Governor Rochas Okorocha gives Imolites and the Igbo nation another reason to walk with our shoulders held high.
Not even the “potor – potor” / muddy areas could discourage us. When the high heel stiletto’s gave in, yours truly was forced to take off her shoes and go barefooted .
The building is complete!!
Thanks to Mr. Uche Onwuchekwa from the Chief of Staff’s office who gave us a detailed briefing during our tour.
This magnificent piece of architecture also houses a statue of Ikemba Ojukwu which was unveiled at the burial ceremony in Owerri.
An honor well deserved.
The Ikemba Ojukwu Convention Centre is located opposite the Heroes Square (New Owerri)
Join us next week for the next project in our series.
