READERS MAIL: IMSU Female Student battles deadly disease. Exposes Lecturer

This is so pathetic!. The sender of this email first reached out to IMO STATE BLOG in June. Glad she was bold enough to muster courage to respond with more details. A Professors name is mentioned. Who is this Professor? If anyone has more facts on him or any of the Lecturers committing such, please send us an email.

To Whom It May Concern

I keep confessing that all lecturers in the mass communication department of Evan Enwerem University (IMSU) are now in huge extortion of money from students, we pay them in cash and kind so that one can move forward with her studies.

They are corrupt minds with all dirty immoralities, (IE:Prof. Anyanwu & others)

I have gone out of may way and exposed myself to danger of deadly disease just to meet up their demands.

I have exposed myself to deadly deases because of going out of my way to look for money to satisfy the demand of lecturers of my department.

I am a Mass Communication student 300 level I know what am talking about I can’t hide it anymore because am suffering from an incurable disease now, I can’t afford dying in silent anymore,

Of course very soon some will share from same health condition, hope you are not a partaker of such evil.

This is such a shame!!

Nigeria honestly has a very long way to go. It is quite unfortunate that we do not have a system in place that protects such “Confidential Reports” or one that enforces disciplinary actions against these randy old buffoons parading the Institution as Lecturers. Neither do we have one that investigates such reports. It will turn out to be her word against the so called Professor Anyanwu.

At the end of the day, the girl will be the one to loose. They will fail her. Friends of the mentioned Professor will also turn around and victimize her for putting their colleague on Blast. Sadly, that is how it goes. When will this end?

Watch someone come on here and say, you should not have listed the professors name. As a young professor, this makes me so ashamed of our educational system. Unfortunately, this happens in other countries but not as prevalent as our part of the world. These randy old men take advantage of young women desperate to pass their courses. Power hungry maniacs. What can be done to curb such behavior?

  In my opinion, if this issue has not been reported to the IMSU authorities, then I would think she’s taken an unwise step because believe it or not we are in a democracy and the rule of law is supreme. I pray she’s got some concrete admissible evidence, otherwise the “complainant could well become the accused”. It always advisable to take recourse to the law of the land. Nestor (London)

It has to be said that most of the young women in our 3rd level institutions are culpable in this issue as narrated above. Mention must be made of the fact that most of these students have no clue what 3rd level education is all about let alone a grasp of it. At the end of the day had to offer something in cash or kind to a lecturer in order to influence their poor showing in the exams. Please don’t get me wrong or maybe think i’m a male chauvinist, but the truth is that the girls can put an end to this scandal if they really want to. This they can do in the following ways.,
1. It is a practice withing the 3rd level system in Nigeria to officially write to protest your exam scores.
2. If your dept fails to take appropriate action, go to the students union.
3. You can boycott the complaint protocol and write the highest authority within or outside the university/college.
4. However, you can only do this if you’re certain you’ve done well in the exams.
5. Finally, we live in the digital age, information travel faster than light these days. Take up a face book campaign and make your plight known to over .5billion facebook users. I can assure you that no reputable person more so a professor wants to be the subject of a negative press.

It is good that you posted the email as is. In fact, there should be a free for all website/blog or page where people can post information like this anonymously or otherwise. If they are failing the young woman, she has nothing to lose. She already lost out. She is probably down with HIV, terminal Hepatitis, something mighty scary. Her own don finish. She is on her way out from her note so why let others go through the same. She apparently has had to sell her wares for cash to go through school because of these thieves in academic cloak and is paying a significant price for it with her life.

IT’S HIGH TIME U PEOPLE STOP MISLEADING US,IF ACTUALLY SHE MADE THIS COMPLAIN TO U, SHE SHOULD ALSO ABLE TO GIVE DETAILS OF THE MAN,WHY ARE U PEOPLE DISTORYING THE MAN’S PERSONALITY.THE GIRL IN QUESTION IS SHE SAYING EVER BODY IN HER CLASS IS SORTING TOO?,WHEN U DON’T READ U TRY TO SEEK ALTERNATIVE BACK DOOR.DAT IS ALWAYS THE RESULT OF SUCH ACT.

It is time both govt and the school authority look into shameful acts going on in our institutions, most especially the Department of Mass communication. In 2000. The case of a Lecturer harassing a student sexually was brought 2 Senate with enough evidence but what happened?.

The management of the school swept it under the carpet,except for Dr Mrs Agulana who wanted the case to be treated others were frustrating the complainant including the so called ASUU president. Besides, this lady who was bold enough. I know how many girls in the department whom the so called H.O.D failed becos they refured to go to bed with him yet, it was just suspension that was given to him .The VC then was very disciplined and he was wise enough to understand that some members of the panel are supporting this shameful act. Now the same issue has ruined this young lady life in the same department.

Assuming that the previous case was strictly addressed and name mentioned would this happen again, those who know what am saying should address issue properly. Who knows the next victim.?

Please as at date there is no professor in the department of mass communication in imsu.am worried about this complain whether the complain is just intended to run the department down.am worried pls prof Anyanwu of which department..mass comm has only one assoc.prof .so what is this chap talking about? Are u sure she is a student? Let’s be careful

  Pls get it right the Anyanwu case is different from the one of 2000. I am just bringing that case back 2 let the people know that this is the 2nd time this issue of sexual harassment is happening in dept of mass comm in IMSU.
  
  Had it been that the one of year 2000 was treated properly ,this recent one of prof.Anyanwu wouldn’t have occured. If you are still in doubt of the one of 2000, carry out investigations and the lecturer involved then was a doctrate degree holder not a prof. I know what am say cos am an insider.

Infact I am suprise on the comments of some of my colleagues who have already aired there views concerning this young ladies ordeal.does it mean that they are arguing what this lady is saying? or as if worst than these are not happening in our universities of learnings?
Please lets call a spade a spade. Indiscipline and inmoralities in our schools has reached an alarming stage and if nothing is done about it heaven knows what will be the result later. Our lecturers are abusing the school system with extorttion of money from students before they can pass there subjects. it has never been the platform our educational system was formed.it is causing a lot of problems to our female students trying to meet up with lecturers demand by following sugar daddies travelling from state to state without there parents knowing. the governor must try and restore discipline in schools and if one or two lectures are convicted and sentenced in prison, it will serve as a detriment tro others
