SPORTS: Imo State Weightlifting team set for World championship in the UK.

The Imo State weightlifting team has assured the people of Nigeria that the team will come back home with more than 50 gold medals from the upcoming world weightlifting championship slated to hold in the United Kingdom.

Addressing journalists at Dan Anyiam stadium, Owerri during their preparation for the World Championship, the captain of the team, Prince Kennedy China Nwamkpa, said the team has selected 22 lifters that will make Nigeria proud.

Prince Nwamkpa  recalled that four months ago, he went to United States with four lifters from Nigeria for weightlifting championship and the four lifters came back home with five gold, two silver and two bronze and that also in USA weightlifting championship, his team came back with fifteen gold medals which made Nigeria to be rated as the highest gold medalists. He further disclosed that out of the 22 selected lifters for the world weightlifting championship, seven were special citizens (physically challenged).
