Unbelievable! Madam Akinyili distracts voters on Election day with another lengthy explanation. Why the panic, Madam?

While others headed out to the polling stations to cast their votes for the Presidential Elections, Prof.Akinyili felt today was the best day to come out with another epistle in attempt to vindicate herself. Why is she worrying herself? Did INEC not set this issue aside for a re-run? Why distract your constituents whom you should be encouraging to vote with the explanation? If you won, you won… what ever God has for you, belongs to you , Madam.  Why are you now looking for ways to discredit Uncle Ngige?. Why the panic? Kini big deal?

“My Dear Friends,

Good day to you all. While wishing you all a great weekend, permit me to use this opportunity to tell you the full story of the crisis that has trailed the Anambra Central Senatorial Election held on Saturday, April 9, 2011, in which I was privileged to fly the flag of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).”

My heart bleeds over the sad turn of events with regard to that election, which I had hoped to win comfortably and without any controversy whatsoever. I am even more pained by the deliberate twisting of the facts by my main challenger, Dr. Chris Ngige (ACN candidate), in concert with my detractors, with the aim of tarnishing my hard-earned reputation, the integrity of the electoral process, the image of Anambra State and the international image of our dear country, Nigeria.

“This crisis is unnecessary and was orchestrated by Dr. Ngige when it dawned on him that I was winning the election. Many Anambra people are not surprised because he is well known for shameful electoral tactics. Dr. Ngige is so used to rigging elections that it has become difficult for him to come to terms with the type of credible elections that INEC Chairman Prof. Attahiru Jega planned for 2011. In 2003 he rigged himself into power to become the governor of Anambra State, a seat he illegally occupied for 3 years. In 2010 he tried to rig again but the good people of Anambra State resisted it. Unable to accept defeat, he went to court and he is still in court for that gubernatorial election.”

“I have noted with dismay a further twisting of the allegation by Dr. Anene. For the avoidance of doubt, Dr. Anene never at any time during his press conferences accused me of any attempt to compromise him. I therefore urge Nigerians and the international community to disregard any attempt by my detractors to create the impression that I in any way acted contrary to the forthright manner for which I have always been known and for which I will always continue to be known.”
