A few days back, Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha declared two weeks holiday for civil servants in the state. He also disclosed that each worker would receive N10,000 as Christmas bonus.
Yesterday, His Excellency extended the gesture to the security agencies in the state. He is set to pump N500 million into uplifting the spirits of the service men for the holidays. He said that officers and men of the Nigerian Police, Nigerian Army, Nigerian Civil Defence and Security Corp, State Security Services (SSS) Nigerian Immigration, Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Nigerian Prisons, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency(NDLEA) and Nigerian Custom will get N10,000 each from the largess.
News of this development has sparked criticisms with many questioning why the state should be crippled for 2 weeks. What is your own opinion?
