Governor of Imo state, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has disclosed that the government of All Progressives Congress, APC, will introduce free education at all levels in the country, adding that the APC government would stop at nothing to insure that education should be free so that all can go to school.
Governor Okorocha made the remark at a dinner organized for the visiting team from the National University commission NUC, Abuja who visited the state.
The governor who noted that there was no alternative to education, stressed the preparedness of his administration to turn around the sector to effective service delivery, education has been identified as a pivot upon which every will of development revolves.
He maintained that the era of leaving buildings, cars as legacies were over, noting that he was poised to leave a legacy of education in the state.
Governor Okorocha was optimistic that such efforts would help the poorest of the poor to access education.
He called on them to support the call for free education from primary to tertiary level.
Governor Okorocha who regretted that the Imo State University was yet to boast of infrastructural development of a university, was optimistic that in the next two years, the statute of the institution would be raised to international standard.
He commended the acting VC for her doggedness in ensuring that the institution received the accreditation.
Speaking on behalf of the Accreditation Team, the chairman of the team, Prof. Jeremaiah Ojediran thanked the governor for investing in the institution area of human resources, noting that he was inadvertently investing in the future generations.
Prof. Ojediran while commending the humble disposition of the governor, promised that the accreditation would ensure objectivity in carrying out its assignments in the school.
Earlier, the Acting VC, Prof. Adaobi Obasi thanked the governor for his resourcefulness noting that his second term in office was to ensure that he delivers on his campaign promises to the people of the state.
She assured that with all the investments in the College, the school would not fail to actualize its mandate.
She thanked the governor for ensuring that 16 departments of the University were upgraded and accredited.
